The Mathlab's main purpose is to provide computing facilities for students (both graduate and undergraduate) taking courses offered by the Mathematics Department and the Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics at SUNY Stony Brook. Although the use of the lab is not open to all students (Instructional Computing p rovides that service), anyone currently enrolled in a Math course can get an account. |

Please look for information on the new Calculus Prerequisites exam that will be given to students in first-semester calculus courses (MAT 125, 131 and 141, and AMS 151) early this fall. The Mathlab is a collection of about 35 workstations and X-terminals located in room S-235A, in the basement of the Math building. Most of the equipment was originally donated to the Math and Applied Math departments by a grant from Sun Microsystems in 1990, but additional equipment has been purchased, such as NCD x-terminals and Tatung workstations. |
